8000 spinner loaded with 50 or 65 lb braid on a 12' heavy will be a great starting point. More capacity and easier casting than most drum heavers and you won't blow up your $$$ braid. You need the capacity of braid. 8/0-12/0 circle hook on 12-18" of single strand to a swivel and at least a few feet of 100-200 lb mono. Size it to your casting drop. 80 lb shock will help a little as a rub leader as well. Pretty standard casted bait surf shark setup. Have plenty of rigs and take a spool of 80 mono with you and expect to retie between fish.
