Im thinking hard about a 2500 and maybe a 8000(vertical jigging) myself.

Amazing what Pure fishing has done with this family of reels, what was originally a department store Pflueger reel has 5 Penns(Pursuit 2, Fierce, Sargus, Battle, Conflict), Cabellas salt shaker, and 2 BPS reels on the same basic reel design now....

 

I think there owned by Jarvis actually, acccording to the penn BD guys. But i totally agree!

 

I have the 2500 and it's amazing. It's slightly lighter and a pretty good bit smoother than the battle. The foam handle is very comfortable. The spools "lip" (I think it's called that) is upgraded from the battle, making a lot less wind knots.

 

Mike until my Battles bite, it I will use them. The Conflict, feels and looks good. Empty, it feels smoother than the Battle and that is saying a lot, as I feel the Battles were definitely an upgrade over the Sargus, which I still use
