This might make you feel a little bit better. I was fishing on the Nags Head pier one night and my partner caught a nice 21-22 inch flounder. Being the consumate gentleman, I offered to unhook and transport said flounder to our cooler. halfway to the cooler, said flounder gave me the slip and managed to find the widest space between two boards. Never touched anything. It was like mailing a letter. The only noise was a distressing splash as he returned to the briny. Needless to say, my partner was not quite as impressed with the escape talents of that fish as I was. At least you lost your own fish and it was still in the water. I, on the other hand........
