Drove through, well almost through, Yorktown around 5p this afternoon, and the water was covering the road from in front of the Post-Office to up under the Coleman bridge. VDOT cars were blocking the road.

The water was coming over the little pier down there, and only about a foot of each of the jetties was visible and no sand walkways connecting the beach to the jetties, they were all under a ton of surf and foam.

It was the roughest and highest I've seen it down there in a long time.

I stopped down at Indian Field at 6:00pm and the water was Twenty feet up from the Reeds and then again at 8:30 no change. The river was rolling.
I think it will be fine by the weekend.

I noticed the same thing coming into town tonight. When I came by Willoughby, the water was hitting the crossbars under the bridge and the jetty was completely submerged--you couldn't see a thing.

Figures that I'd come into town when fishing is shot to you know what...

So who's up for beers tomorrow? :D

Flea I would love a beer or two but the timing will be tight. Also the wind has laded down so the tide will be back to normal in six hours or so. Maybe we can hook up Saturday night.

Water temps still a little low, so maybe fishing won't interfere with the beer drinking! I'm in for one of those days at the Spit.
