Spent a couple hours at the Coast Guard Pier Monday after cleaning up the storm debris in the yard. Fished from about 1:30pm to 4:30 pm on the incoming tide.
Started with cut bait, clam, and BWFB in deeper water. Also jigged the pilings for rockfish. No dice. Just small bait stealers around.

Moved to shallower water and caught one small rockfish (15") and a bunch of specs. The spec bite was fairly consistent. Kept one fat 15" spec which was grilled fresh for dinner last night. All the rest were safely released. Left them biting.

Glad to see the storm didn't totally shut things down.

Oh, and before someone asks.....yes, you do need a military ID to access the pier.

I believe the Yorktown Pier is open 24 hrs, but I have never had luck there. The pier is short and I believe there is a snag somewhere off the middle/left of the pier. Once I started going to the Yorktown Coast Guard Pier, I stopped visiting that little pier.....just wish Coast Guard Pier was open at night.
Good Luck,

Thanks for the info on the Yorktown pier...just looking for an alternative since both USCG and Cheatham Annex piers aren't available at night right now. Hate to miss out on striper running up the river. I may give the Yorktown pier a shot, just to see. Definitely hope the ship at Cheatham Annex isn't there the whole striper season!!
