So I'm watching TV this morning before going out fishing..and Bassmaster's is on.

What got me is there is a "Woman's Division". I know fishing requires a bit of physical alacrity, but not to the point of making a whole separate division.

Fishing is more knowledge about areas, technique and patience. Why should a man and women have separate divisions? We both have brains, which is 99.9% of fishing.

Just seemed silly to me.

Marketing unfortunately. If you can separate it into two divisions then you have three markets. Mens fishing, womens fishing, and bass fishing in a generality of the sport and the opportunities for women to "invade" the mens division i.e. golf as Kim Bain-Moore did at this years classic in February.
