Wind direction on any beach, In your face.
What he said. Holden runs West to East so you're looking for a southwest or southeast wind unless you get out to Bald Head Island.

I've always heard "West is the best, East is the least" referring to the South-facing beaches in the fall. Of course, technically speaking, they had it backwards, since wind direction is reported by the direction from which it originates, and you want it blowing from East to West in the fall. Really, a SE wind is best to both push the fish into the beach and down the shore.

As Bocefus said, you basically want the wind in your face. On the left cheek in the fall, and the right in the spring.
