The wife and I will be in Wilmington the weekend of October 9-11. She told me to bring a rod along and we'll probably spend a few hours hanging out on the beach Saturday afternoon, does anyone have any suggestions on where to go and what to target? I've been to Wrightsville Beach before and thought it was nice so I was planning on going there but wouldn't mind checking out one of the beaches further south, either. I fished the inlet at the southern end of Wrightsville for 4-5 hours once, but that's all of the experience I have in the area. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

Try the south end as close to the Coast Guard station as possible with a finger mullet on a Carolina rig. You will pick up small blues or maybe flounder. Also, try a live shrimp under a cork next to the jetty on the south end. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies. Looked at the Ft Fisher area on google maps, looks like an interesting area to fish. Is the beach pretty good or do you have to fish from the rocks? My wife will be cool with sitting on the beach for a few hours, probably not so much with climbing across rocks.
