I'm trying to figure out where fish this weekend. I'll be going out with my dad and brother on my dad's boat. I was thinking about Rudee, Lynnhaven or going on the Hampton side and try bluefish rock for cobia. I've never fished bluefish rock or never caught a cobia, but I want one this season. I've fished Lynnhaven quite a few times, but what's out there now? I've never fished Rudee from a boat just from the rail. Rudee just seems small to be fishing on a boat. Where would you go if you were fishing this weekend? I would like to catch any fish but croaker. I know they are everywhere but I've caught enough of those throughout the years. Any advice would be helpful.

I'd say that if you want a cobia, go for it off Grandview / BFR. Sunday looks a bit windy in the forecast, but Saturday from noon to 6 pm it looks like it should be lighter from the SW and the incoming current will be the same time in that area.

We ended up leaving out of city park in Portsmouth and going to the Monitor Merrimac. I would've preferred to go somewhere else like Lynnhaven, but my dad just likes to fill the cooler. So croaker it was. We were in croaker heaven. It was non-stop croaker action all day. We were using shrimp and and squid. It looked like the shrimp worked better as bites were faster with shrimp than squid. In all I still had a good time fishing with my dad and brother.
