Reports great catches of whiting sheepshead & Drum. Best baits used have been dead shrimp squid or mullet. Some whiting up to 16" are chewing on shrimp all day."
good luck finding a spot near the end. the local guys take up every spot on the end. we went there this past summer and my son counted 48 fishing rods lining the end of the pier. they do a lot of outrigging. you need at least 2 rods to do that, but 48 rods for about 10 or 12 people, thats a littlt rediculous. it is a cluster when someone hooks up. there are still lots of fish to be caught away from the end of the pier. you can't go wrong with a gotcha plug for bluefish or shrimp on the bottom for whiting.
First, don't ever believe anything Faye has to say. She's there to sell tickets on the pier.
During the summer months when it's crowed and very slow,we would call from the end of the pier and get a report on what's biting. It was always the same answer, whiting, blues and kingfish are on fire.
May to Oct the kingfisherman pretty much take over the end of the pier. The use two rod set-ups for kings
There haven't been a lot of reports lately because of the holidays but there are still whiting, small sharks and sheepshead around the pilings.
This time of year there might only be twenty people out there at any given time.
