Hey all,

I've never done any plankin' for big drum or striper, only from the surf. I've got the traditional heaver at 12' along with an 11' footer. Seems to me they may be more of a nuisance than help on a pier. What length and type (Heavy, Medium, etc) of rod is used?

Kenny, if you're out there and not too tired from catching all those drummies with Pat, what do you use? I'm hoping to be down there around Christmas (along w/ Santa). Going to fish Ass.I.
next weekend for striper. :D

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Many...

Thanks guys. Man, that's an impressive array of rods and reels. I'm sitting here tying rigs like crazy, maybe in frustration that I'm not there. DD must surely be on the planks...

Milt if you have a 12'er you be good to go.. ;)
I use a 1509 rainshadow,and a 1509 (third generation) breakaway.. They fit my casting style,which is ancient.. :D

Many use purglas, zzippys, outcast, lamis, some even use the ole heavers 68&69 blanks as well as the ole bigsticks, and "the new stuff".. Whatever fits your casting style. However, make sure it will handle as much as 10nbait,cause sometimes ya gotta throw it.. I have thrown as much as 16 back in the day,but have held it down to 10 nowadays.. :D
