Hi;

I want to spool up my light set up with 10lb monofilament for pier fishing near the breakers for Pomps. I want to stay away from braid for this set up.

I am happy with the performance of Sufix Tritanium Plus in the 17Lb range for my medium set ups. Before I pull the trigger and pick up some Sufix TP in the 10lb class thought I would solicit opinions about other current brands to consider particularly with distance attributes. I'm not looking at fluorocarbon line since I will be using a fluorocarbon leader.

Opinions?

Sufix Tri+ in 8 and 10 is just as good. I use both and no problems at all.

I haven't used Suffix Tritanium but I love Suffix Elite. I have had 10lb. in High Vis Yellow on a couple of my freshwater rods and my light saltwater spinner for a few years now and it holds up well. The Tri is supposed to be more abrasion resistant but since the 10lb of each are the same diameter, the only way for it to tolerate more abrasion would be to use a harder compound.

"particularly with distance attributes"...you want the thinnest diameter mono you can find, thinner = more distance.

haven't fished mono for pomps in almost a decade, braid suits the way i like to fish for them, to each his own. catch em up.

I use braid on my spinners and mono on my baitcasters, catch just as many citations with both, learning where they are, proper casting technique, and yada yada yada with sand fleas on a river rig, I do a lot of bass fishing and my bass baitcasters have 10lb Trilene XT and never have broke any yet ... it's really hard to get it even a little ruff awesome line
