Started about 10pm stayed till the rain came at 7am. Nothing special. One Whiting. These Hake's hit anything I put in the water immediately. The Clear Nose Skate almost broke my rod. Eh, Rather have something bite, than be out there doing nothing. I'll probably go out again tomorrow, haven't decided where. Any one getting nice bites from the shore or a pier?

I see a lot of people reporting that they are catching Hakes. Are they good to eat?
I caught some in Portsmouth, Va about a 15 or so years ago. Small...but tasted good. Meat wasn't dry...sorta a cross between a spot and a sea mullet...at least to me. I didn't want to admit it around that time cause after looking at some pics online, I thought they were baby Cobia. Didn't want to even think about going to jail for breaking the under slot size rule, lol.
I'm looking forward to catching some....if they hang around for a bit.

Thank you. I caught dozens of those at the CBBT last year and didn't know what it was. I thought it looked like a slim croaker at fist. I asked the person next to me and he told me it was a mullet.
Yeah I had no clue, they feel slimey like a catfish to very weird, saw a identification thread a week or two ago where someone answered.
