It used to be that the VIMS Ferry Pier data would do what you want but the hardware was destroyed on Sept. 18th.

Greetings gang ! I don't post much anymore, just read the site.
My old handle here was " outer bar" but somehow, I got "scratched" from the site on that one, and could'nt get it back on. But anyway, as to water temperature....

When we're getting water temps in the newspaper, tv weather,
and the rest....they are taken from Ches. Light Tower. The exception to that is in the summer, when the newspapers actually come from Va Bch Pier.
So for now, don't believe em' ! The water can be 10 or more dergees warmer INSHORE than the newsmedia mentions in fall and winter
when, its shallower (and warmer....)
So when the knockoff comes, most thinking puts that on stripers at 40 (some 42 degrees), remember its not that cold for US in the local surf.
Outer banks waters are totally unpredictable....and a telephone call or getting on the web will fill that bill.
Speaking of outer banks, one of those sources, and an old favorite stopping spot, " Pelicans Roost" is totally gone, thanks to
hurricane Isabel. I'm gonna' miss it.
Hey ! Merry Christmas Gang !
