Hi there,

I'm going to be in Destin over the next week. We be staying in the vicinity of Stewart Lake. I've been looking forward to some surf fishing. It'll be my first time to Destin and only my second time surf fishing. I see the forecast has several days with thunderstorms, rain, and such. How will this effect fishing from the surf? Weather looks to be more calm in the early evening or night time. How's the bit usually during this times?

Any reports on what's running in that area right now? Pompano, whiting, drums?

One last question...would it be worth the 30min drive from our condo rental to fish the Okaloosa pier?

Thanks!

The best day of fishing I ever had was off the Okaloosa Island Pier during a cold front in May......huge schools of Spanish, blues, ladyfish chewing bait as far as the eye could see......sharks, dolphins and bull reds were picking fish off the hooks as we reeled some of them in. Couldn't cast a Gotcha plug without getting bit, it was impossible.
