So I sent in my casting Mojo Surf rod for warranty replacement (I don't think it can be repaired). Then I was doing some researh and saw that people have upgraded their St. Croix rods. I have a spinning Mojo Surf that's in good condition. I wanted to see if I could send in my spinning rod, get credit for both rods, pay the difference and whatever fees and upgrade to a spinning Legend Surf. The answer I got was "no" by two different reps. The policy is that 1. The rod has to be broken beyond repair 2. You can only apply upgrade per rod (no combining rods)

Questions:
1. If you had upgraded your St. Croix rod in the past, has the policy changed?
2. Why do you think they don't allow sending in unbroken rod for upgrade? I was willing to pay the goldstar service fee of $55 to make that happen, but that wasn't even an available option.

Anyone? Thanks!

Don't know answer to #1 but to #2, I suspect they don't want to be in the appraisal business of determining price based on rod condition. If rod is broken, easy to give you a set price. If not, than it turns into problem when they tell you your rod is in fair condition and you think it's goodand reject their offer. I'm sure others may have experience or will chime in with their thoughts.
