I was looking for videos on youtube on how different sinkers work underwater (in current) but came up pretty much empty. I am stocking up on sinkers and was wondering about which ones to purchase. I was actually wondering if you (ez2cdave) could use your search abilities and help me find underwater videos of different sinkers (in current). I'd appreciate it. I've read up on the differences, but seeing something in action is a real test in my opinion.

Sinkers that I am most interested in:
Flat Bank, Bank, Pyramid... And maybe Sputnik

I tried the following key words without much luck:
"Underwater sinker differences"
"Underwater sinker behavior"

Shhhhhhh Spider

One shouldn't need a video to figure how a sinker responds under water..

A bank sinker is going to roll in strong current. A flat sinker will lay flat and not dig in. It will still be pushed by current and the fishing line. A Sputnik will dig in sand to the point of kicking the legs out. A frog tounge is excellent in the surf and will dig in, On a pier not so much because of the angle.

Hopefully we will see an END to excessive posted videos and links

My suggestion would be to find a clear freshwater creek or stream with a sandy bottom and experiment in shallow water. Video your results and be the first to document the results

Just saw the replies. Thank you!

Frog tongue is a new one for me, and I'll have to check it out.

I agree that I don't need to see videos to see what's happening in general, but it would have been neat to visually see how different sinkers really behave.

The sinkers do not roll.

The water tension/wind tension line drags the sinkers butt first like an anchor that will not hold.

The largest frontal area on the sinker holds the best for straight lead. That is why the three sided pyramids hold so well, they just do not cast as far as a four sided pyramid.

Scientific study based upon watching line bow off the OBX planks.

The Big Biters were eating the full size Drum at the Point last night. Pyramid sinkers, 8 ounces drifted fine, 7 ounces drifted too fast.
