As there is no public access to my other spot and both the pier and dock I usually fish are destroyed, Polk St has become my current go to spot. Snuck out after work yesterday afternoon and today for some fishing. Lots and lots of good sized (10-11") whiting both days. Doubles all day today. Fresh off the boat local shrimp for bait.

Nothing on the glory rod yesterday but I did get to meet Achorite and it's always nice to be able to put a face to the words on the screen. Today I scaled down bait on the glory rod for a better chance at a hook up after getting robbed but something out there was smarter than me and figured out how to have an all you can eat buffet no matter what I tried. Even crabs usually can't eat that much around the hook with out touching it. Oh well.

Haven't caught a ray lately and while that would normally make me happy, especially after a car hood Southern smoked the drag on me last week taking one of my fav reels out of service pending replacement parts from Penn, but the slimies have made up for it. One small sail cat yesterday and two stupid, super tangled eels today. Still happy to be able to put meat back in the freezers since I lost everything after over a week with no power, hopefully a deer will be joining the fish soon.

Today's haul stacked deep:

ETA: Forgot to mention, lately I have been having to cast much farther than usual. In the wash I get robbed, croakers or tiny baby whiting but slinging it out far is where I'm getting the keepers.

Just a few whiting the other night after you left. Only stayed about an hour after sunset. Crabs gladly ate the store bought mush i had for big baits, but the fresh whiting was able to sit for hours untouched. Went from blues with no whiting early in the week to whiting with no blues at the end. Still no reds. You can bet I'll be back out there soon. Glad I had the opportunity to build on my local knowledge. I also find the need to get some more distance at times. Can't decide if its a matter of reaching deeper water on such a shallow beach or just working a virgin area.

Great report man.

Yep' sometimes they are close in and sometimes far out. Glad you are able to restock the freezer. We took our meat with us when we evacuated.

Well day three now, had to cancel the hunting trip this AM so got enough done around the house to justify another day in the surf. Havean' t found the bulls but have found the rays. At least this big girl Southern only smoked my arm and not my last set of ht100 drag washers. Tried everything to not catch anymore whiting but they are even biting chunks of whiting. Guess the Blues headed back north already.

Does anyone on this forum work at a sign shop? I've counted 7 people out here surf fishing, we need signs to direct them to the forum.
