Haven't posted in a while so Happy 4th of July. Went fishing with Larry B. Got there a little after noon and fished the right corner. Nice day on the water but the fish did not start biting until just before sunset. Interestingly enough, just before sunset I managed to catch four nice whiting. Once the sun went down, it was on! Caught our limit of 10-13 inch croaker by around midnight and left about 1 AM. The croaker weren't as big as they were back before the pier was rebuilt but it was still fun. Larry outfished me again but if you reach the drop off, you get the fish. We used bloodworm, shrimp FB and shrimp. There were a lot of oyster crackers caught. Moral of the story is that if you reach the drop off, you will get fish. Well worth the $10 to fish on the pier.

I was there Saturday as well...on the left corner. We left just after 2pm. Toad fish seemed to be the fish of the day, and I found it strange no perch were around. I agree it was worth the $10 to get away from the normal nonsense of public piers. Hopefully it stays well run and problem free.

all you need is a 9ft rod and the halfway ability to cast accurately and you will catch fish. from the cntr to the rt is the hotspots. 12ft surf rod are great for the public pier, but are a waste on this pier. BW FBS or raw shrimp is all you need.
