Just got back from a week in Surf City. Fishing was about what most would expect this time of the year. Lots of dink whiting and pinfish.
Funny thing was not a lot of shark action. Only beached two. One was all wrapped up in a cut off pin rig.
We threw everything for them. Stingray, spot, croakers. Also some wahoo chunks, flounder and red heads (from Surf City Crab).
Bait: Some mullet running, some glass minnows further out. No birds working at all.
Fleas: Few and far between. Lots of clams though.
All in all a fun week but water needs to cool off a bit for action to heat up. Guy at East Coast said the blacktips were migrating but the section of beach we were on was pretty flat. Did have a couple nice runs though. One hook pulled and another a crimp failed. Arghh. Still nicer than work!

Thx for the report. I usually do OK in august despite it being the dog days but this year was way worse than usual for me further down the island. You are right about the coquinas. Every pomp I cleaned had a stomach chock full of coquinas.
