If fishing biting I'm there until I'm satisfied with my catch. Fish not biting until I can't take the cold or I'm convinced fish won't start biting. That being said I was going to drive 2hrs and fish somewhere tomorrow Jersey,de,or Maryland. But after looking at wind chill decided to stay local and try to find out if the wind spots here.

If I were free tomorrow I would be up in Nj regardless of rain/wind chill. I think there's a good chance of it lighting up with the heavy west wind.

Well kracka you're a better man than me. Brielle is 2hrs from me that's the farthest North in jersey I have fished. Can't see myself traveling past there with just the hope I will be able to fish
It's a W/NW wind. Easy to throw in and COULD bring the masses of bunker in that are getting torn up by 30-50lb bass 1.5 miles off.
That's not a bad drive, give it a shot!

I can bring up a map of every spot/area I fish. I can see were the wind will be at my back, or out of wind. I can understand working people, or people that have a long drive not going. I am going to the marine this morning. I finally caught some crappie and one 2 1/2 lb bass yesterday. Marina is about two blocks from house. I didn't check the weather yet. Is it going to be windy?(38.687930, -75.771670) I just checked. NWN 14 MPH.

Yea Andy have a good lake about 10min drive from my house. But like most lakes in summer water gets to hot and crappie find 15-20ft of water with structure. So no boat no summer crappie. Since water temp has dropped I'm catching all my crappie from shore. Have had a few hit just before I pulled my jigs out the water that was fun.

Still very windy this morning. Had my 6# line blowing all around. Hard to cast, and hard to control my 1/16th jig. Just couldn't fish right. Only caught one good crappie, one 3 Lb. pickerel, one small bass, and some very small crappie. All fish released. The wind was W 18-20 HPH in my face.

To bad you couldn't find a out of the wind spot Andy. Same wind up here I fished 4p-6p caught at least 15 crappie all less than 9in so they all were released. Found them in 6ft of water near boulders. And most were less than 6ft from shore. So yes I was retrieving right along the bank catching fish. Oh and 2 nice 14in bass on microlight rod with 4lb test made things very fun indeed.

The wind was bad. One crappie and a few little yellow perch. Maybe tomorrow.
I made it out for a bit on Saturday. Wind was brutal. Fishing some light hardware on an ultralight setup and had a few big gusts grab a couple casts and drop them 5 or ten feet in front of me. 6 or 7 small bass (no keepers) around sunset and hook in the knuckle for my efforts. Not a great fishing day but better than being stuck in the house.

As far as wind goes, I will stay out as long as I can feel my extremities and can keep my line in the general vicinity of where I want it. Gone are the days where I was able to go trout fishing in the early spring in a pair of shorts and Tevas.
