sounds like the way i fish, if i see someone catching decent fish, i'll ask what there using. never hurts. a few weeks ago i met blood not at the lesner bridge and he was nice enough to show me what he was using and even give me one of the lures that was catching fish. i didnt catch anything that day but he was pullin them in.

thanks again for that lure, i did end up catching some blues at ft monroe, and a trout useing it as a weight on a sabiki rig.

The answer is you meet people and got to know them. You learned when you had the chance(when ever it oppeared). But most learned by trial and error putting in the time. It was nice when surf fishing "the point" was just a stop along the way.
