Saturday, Jan 30th, simply awesome day on the beach !!
just a quick note, if you can get to Playa Linda in the next
few days - DO SO !! (call in sick if you have to).
Pompano and whiting are running like crazy.
Bait: frozen clam and fleas worked for us.
When: low to incoming tide.
High Tide was around 1:30pm and the bite dropped off - completely.
Where: Lot one, first trough, maybe 40-60 feet at most - no more.
tackle: #1 to 1/0 circle hooks.
2 to 3oz pyramid sinkers
I used the River Rigs with 20# Fluro
If you cast to the sand bar, on it, or past it, you are wasting your time.
the fish are feeding in the first trough.
My wife used her 6ft Ugly Stik with 14# braid and caught a bucket full.
Don't need the 15' rods - just Keep It SIMPLE !!!

Will do photos tomorrow - I'm pooped now.

Well done. Nice fish.

You would not happen know what your water temp is there?

I saw a report of some Pompano landed in Cocoa several days ago.

Seems a little soon for the Pomps to be that far north. Although it has been a mild winter.

Again congrats on your catch.

Nicely done Johnny and great report. Reminds me of about 15 years ago when a buddy and I caught 18in Whiting. He at first thought it was a slot Redfish until it was actually landed. LOL

Nice job!

Haven't fished Playalinda in years.

Maybe I should consider getting back out there soon!

I was lucky at Lot #1 - - - - but, I heard that all up and down the beach
on that particular day, everybody caught something to take home.
Just the luck of the draw.
But, after 1:00 pm the bite just dropped off completely. Dunno why.
