Throwing 4oz-6oz Stingsilvers

Curious peoples preference ..spinning reel or conventional ?

Agree...I'd rather have a spinner for retrieve, but I'd also rather throw these with braid, and there are places that will get you politely told you aren't welcome, so I have a mono outfit as well and that means conventional to get some distance. Small spool diameter at end of cast means you might like a very high retrieve like a Saltist or other 6:1 reel. Big main gears also mean big drags. JMO. Guage your intended purpose and locale, and go with that.

14-18lb mono plus shock might be a decent compromise on a spinner. Limp as possible like Sakuma or Stren, on my spinners.
If I am throwing 4-6 oz almost always go to the conventional… mono main line to shocker

conventional with braid asking for trouble IMO.

in my experiences braid won’t last very long dragging it over sand and shells
