I posted this on the open general forum but I'm thinking some of you va.readers might not see it.What do you suggest as replacements for my 'ole Mitchell 306 and 302 which have served me well. Daiwa BG series was mentioned .Pier and surf action mostly. the R.

I would go with a similar sized Penn SS series. I have three Penn 4400SS reals that are bullet proof for saltwater use. Oh but I can not recommend the 4300SS made different not as good.

Try the Penn 706Z, it uses a roller bearing guide instead of a bail (no bail to flop over on those extreme cast)that alone has saved me many dollars of flying and no longer attached lures. It's very fast retrieve allows better catches of fish that demand a fast bait. A great reel!
