Hi All, thought I'd ask a follow-up question to crappie410's initial question. I'll be traveling to Bethany beach in a week and also plan to surf fish. I grew up surf fishing in northeast Florida using mainly frozen shrimp as bait. Would normally catch whiting and pompano using such a setup. This will be my first time fishing the MD/DE area and since I have very small kids now, I'll be limited to fishing with the family in tow. This basically means fishing within walking distance of our condo rental (at Sea Colony).

I plan to fish from around 7am until 10am (when lifeguards come on duty) starting a week from Monday. A quick glimpse at a tide chart tells me I'll be fishing the incoming tide for the most part.

Okay, onto the question: any recommendations for rigs/bait? I'll be purchasing/getting advice from Old Inlet bait shop, but would like to get some perspective from you guys on here. FYI, I'll be fishing with 2 8ft poles and 2 13ft poles.

You probably don't cast lures. Sounds like your a surf bait fisherman. But if you would like to try for beach flounder, a White Gulp Swimming Mullet on a 1/2 or 3/8th jig head might be good to try.

Thanks, guys, for the info. My son is still too young, but I'm hoping to get my little girl (4) excited by reelin' in at least one or two.

I'm sure we'll have fun regardless. As they say, a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work....
