Have always fished Topsail or Bogue inlet in the past, but this year I was looking at making an Outer Banks trip. I was advised by a friend that there are certain areas of Nags Head where surf fishing is restricted to certain times. I would assume if true, it would be areas considered high traffic for swimmers etc which is where I would not want to fish anyway.

I am planning for a fall trip there and would like to make sure I'm getting lodging in an area where there are no restrictions so I can just walk down to the beach and start fishing without worrying about getting hassled. Any recommendations or cautions?

Check out a condo at Durant Station in between ramp 49 and ramp 55. You can check them on outerbeaches.com and I think you'll find availability in the fall. Don't think there will be any restrictions down there, you'll be right on the beach where there is good fishing and just a couple miles either way to a ramp where there is great fishing. I'm staying there 8/14-8/21. If I think of it I'll stop back here and let you know what I thought, but I already know it's a great spot.
