This is my last year to try and catch my unicorn fish. Any suggestions on places to fish from shore (va beach area) that will result in catches? I prefer to fish artificial but any recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance.

I have caught them on cut back with a bottom rig but generally I wade out and fish the light line brom the bridge lights on the west side of the bridge.

Last night, I landed 3 of my stripers at HRBT within 50 yards of the beach. Granted that I was in a kayak, but anyone willing to wade and cast definitely could have gotten them.

Second alternative: drive up to Maryland every weekend of October and November- cast topwater plugs at any rocky point or shoreline at sunrise and sunset

In January I am thinking of giving VA Beach a shot plugging the surf, I don't have high hopes though.

Try tossing lures from the rail at Rudee Inlet or at the bridge nearby....fishing at night should increase your chances.

Just remember the regs are diff at rudees and change the first of jan.
