Hey folks. what is the SOP for removing the bearing from the spool end play adjustment end cap on a Squidder ?
All I have seen mentioned is that is is difficult, no mention of preferred methods.
The best tool I've found for removing stubborn spool bearings from endplates is the spool shaft itself. I've had good luck with tapered punches and files too. That said, I've never removed the bearing from the end cap on a Squidder like you mention here. Isn't that thing pressed in?
Its either press fitted, or stuck in a film of crud. Can't pull it out with a simple hook tool.
Might put it in some boiling water, see if that loosens it up.
Anyone know what sort of "fit" they were originally ?
Its shown as a cap assembly. But its likely the same bearing as in the other side.
Aftermarket suppliers appear to just sell a pair of bearings so the cap needs to be disassembled.
The small knurled disc appears to maybe be a retainer of sorts. Lightly press fitted.
I have mine soaking now.
