Went out to SPSP again last night and again it was a good night. The bite was not as strong as previous night but ended up with 6 croaker 12"-15", 3 spot, 3 perch and my first flounder (6") over 3 hours. Otherwise it was a beautiful night again on the bay.

All fish returned safely, another catch and release night for me. Just love reeling in those fish.:D

No FL,
Bought them at Fishing Island again. THey were a little on the dying side but it was late in the day and they work well just the same. The people there were really nice again, picking out the best one's for me to buy. THey also gave me some ice too, very pleased. At least you can look at them first. I have never personally tried the Marina.

Dfishmon it is right by Ft belvoir on richmond hwy (rte 1).fishing island reddog1 yeah those guys are pretty good there. I believe with the strike going on in maine the bloodworms aren't going to be as good for a while. The marina has good bloodworms too (when its open)

Bloodworms were the same price $6.75, WW I had tried nightcrawlers at SPSP a few days ago with no takers. I was geting bites on the pole with bloods but not the pole with nightcrawlers. I think they just don't have that smell to them. I don't know if you are looking to catch minnows for bait but there are tons at SP, just need a cast net. THey are jumping around all night long. If you are looking to catch spot, bloods are the only way to go as it seems to me

Yeah some people swear they catch fish off of nightcrawlers (and I am sure they do) but I have tried a few times and have got nothing to show for it. The strike has made prices jump in some areas. I believe in annapolis prices jumped 50 cents to a dollar:barf:

Yes right on the beach, it is like a feeding frenzy when I was reeling in. As soon as the weight reached shore they were attacking it like it was food. Never seen that before, it has only been since the water has gotten warmer, the last few weeks. It is quite the spectacle

How big were they? Do you think they were bunker? i.e alewifes? I have a castnet and might consider coming down there and scooping up a few:)

FL,
I am not sure but they looked to be between 1 to 2 inches or so. Not sure what they were but they were out in numbers. It was dark and I couldn't see exactly what they looked like but just saw them jumping all over the place the last few times I was there and I also saw minnows at Breezy point the last time I was there also.

reddog1 you should try to see if you can catch a few or maybe even beach a few to see what they are. They also make good bait for flounder and I have been told you can catch some flounder from spsp.
