Red Dog took the time to make up this chart. It is tailored for OBX, but you can use the temps as a guideline anywhere within the species range.

"Here is a very good chart that I made up and should answer your question on water temps per species. Some varriables my be different, but close enough. Glad to help. Take care and God bless.Tony"

Thats a very good chart, should print one out and use it when i need, lol.
going thru some old post and came across this one. thought it was helpfull maybe bible stuff if it isn't already.
Good information there. As you can see it goes by location. For example, up here, the BEST temp for Striper at that time of the year is between 50-55 degs.

Thanks for the posting. Yeah , there is a lot of good information in the archives,... but did you really have to go back 7 years to pull this pearl of wisdom ? Good digging !!

Yup , there seems to be slight variation according to geographic location. Might be that the OBX striper strain is reared primarily in Pimlico/Chesapeak area , while the NJ/NY/Mass strain is reared primarily in the Hudson , with slightly cooler water temps.
