Has anyone ever targeted Spanish around the islands of the CBBT. Or have yall caught any in the bay. If so where?

Plenty of spanish in the bay right now, trolled these up west of the 4th on Saturday before switching to spades.

If i were pier or surf bound, i'd be using a 2oz. gold smooothie Hopkins, most of our trolled bites came on gold 2 1/2 Drones.

I have a silver Hopkins. Is there a gold paint available that it can be dipped into or painted with to effectively change the color?

Wouldn't change the color, silver is an effective color as well. Our trolling spread tends to be a little larger than most (#2 up to #3 1/2) who will pull 00 and 0 size spoons, again mostly in silver...any paint you put on won't shine as much as the polished metal finish the lure came with imho...

Paint chipped gotchas did the job on spanish on my last outing out. Didn't have any luck with the Hopkins. Maybe on a sunny day I'll have success with it. Will buff it up a bit for optimal shine.

Gotcha are always a good pier standby, sometimes hard to get the spoon to do what you want from an angled retrieve...lots of good info on gotcha color selection for spanish on The n.c. board..
