What setup do you guys have for spanish/blue jigging? Reccomendations?

Not sure about your area,but on the gulf coast ,a spear head jig works great.....or something similar, a well known jig in gulf shores is called a looney jig....white/white for color is prefered but I mix it up and they all work....some days the odd do better

option 1
cheap 15ft surf rod with a spinning reel holding some 20# mono line with a straw jigging rig. 15' will make a difference days when the fish are cruising right at the shadow line of piers.

option 2- 9ft surf rod that allows you to cast out and jig

option 3- 7' fast action graphite spinning rod with at least 175 yards of 15# braid to cast got-cha plugs.

Straw rigs can be surprisingly effective for such a simple lure.

Any cheap long rod and any cheap reel. Really all you need. I use something that can double as a drum rod after dark. Assuming we're talking about tree rigs on the piers.
