I stayed close to home this morning. I checked Smithvill Lake. Didn't catch one fish. After about two Hrs. of trying I went to the marina. I tried to see if any pan fish showed up. It has been really bad fishing in the marina for quite awhile. I caught this bass on my little pan fish tube bait. Didn't fish long. Back in truck listening to radio. Thanks guys! I can't get motivated to make the run to Cape Henlopen State Park pier. I want to try my little tube bait jig on them spot and croaker, and also try for flounder. But more interested in trying to catch the pan fish/spot, croaker on lures with out bait. I like to try different ways to catch fish. Sometimes it works, most times it don't, but it makes my fishing interesting and it's fun. Going to work with my Daughter this morning. She will work on the grounds of a home on the river off the Choptank, and I will fish off the pier. White perch, and maybe a rock fish.

That's a nice fish! Do you use a slip bobber system when you fish that set up? That's what I've been using for crappie/bluegill and it works wonders. Haven't had the chance to get out on a pier and try it out on some perch.

No not using a bobber now. I only use a bobber with a little tube bait in cold weather. So many perch in shallow water along piers you don't even have to cast the lure. Just flip it and let it drift back to you near the pilings or docks.

Ay Andy in years past I have put between 1/8-1/4oz jig on the bottom for flounder with a 1/16oz or lighter jig up the line higher and caught spots and croaker on the smaller jig at chsp. To bad it didn't work Last time I was there tho
You know how fisherman are. I think my little, and I mean real little like 1/16th jig head with a one inch tube bait will really catch them spot and croaker. I can only cast that light jig about 20-25' If the fish are close I think I will get them. If it don't work, I will go for flounder with my other rod. Thanks for the Info. I might have to try your way.

Another rig of mines tandem trout magnet or small shad darts split shot between them fished straight down between the pilings tipped with small bloodworm or fishbites. Put butt of rod in top part of the fence that way you can use 2 poles at the same time
