Sheepshead experts, at the pier, can I catch 'em with fiddlers on a fishfinder rig? If not, how, where, and what bait?

THANKS

Always one of the toughest quaries.
I always used sandfleas and either one of 2 rigs. Clear leader is a must and either Va Hooks or live bait hooks. As far as the rig goes just a couple of droppers off a main line with a 3oz or so sinker. I also use very heavy tackle since they will wrap the pillings very quickly. The other rigs is a bobber rig just like for blue gill just alot stronger.
One note I most fished for them off the pilings in NC, and many of the fish people have said are sheepshead are really juvenile black drum. The best way to be sure is look at the teeth or lack of them.
I hope this helps.

On the Bonner Bridge, I use a 3 OZ egg sinker above a snap swivel and then a commercial dropper hook that'll hold the sandfleas of the size that I find.

A good feel and fewer hangups over the double dropper rig.
