got to the pit at low tide, about 2:30 pm. Windy water rough. Caught a few mullet and hooked up the big-un pole with a 6 ounce weight. Threw it in and a few minutes later it was on shore. One hell of an undertow. Couldn't keep big-un pole out for to long. tried grocery pole with clams and kept coming in. Had six ounce weight on and still kept coming in. Finally took some wire leader and made a 3 ounce trailer weight with the six ounce and it slowed it down some. Caught 5 pompano about 8 to 10 inches that were released, then also 3 pompano (12, 12 and 13) that came home with me. Rough fishing these last bunch of weeks, never had to use 9 ounces of weight before. Will have pompano for supper Sunday evening though. Smooth casting all. Also caught my 200 lbs of weeds.
