Over the horizon +or-

If you get that reel and the distance to the middle of the reel seat from the butt is the width of your shoulder plus two fists fromed over the rod for eery 5 or so ounces you plan on casting and fill it with berkley 17# big game and take the combo on that head boat you were talking about going on, my guess is that the combo will then cast on and beyond the horizon.

Just my 2 sence worth.

umm... your in ny, im in ny

we dont need to cast into the horizon for fish...
a good 20-50yard cast is all it takes..

i nominate a good ol' daiwa slx20 or 30 , and thats good enough for anything up here, down the NC.

If you’ve got the budget, SA30 would be a nice reel to have but for
the same dough you could probably get 2 of its sibling Saltist30H,
which works just as fine..

“Magged” versions seems to be more favourable than Centrifugal spool
brakes in conventional reels..

IMHO :p
