Anyone even considering coming to Padre or Mustang Islands this weekend or week, make sure you do.

There was a slightly bizarre northeast wind this week that just put the tides at tropical storm heights, even though the winds were no more than 25 mph. The fishing came to a standstill Thursday. Today the winds slowed, water's clearing (I did catch a 24-inch red at North Padre) and for the weekend winds are 5-10 mph, and no rain through the week with highs in the mid-80's.

Get your aerators and live anything, pick any spot on the surf, wade out to the second bar and catch reds, trout and whatever.

Packery Channel, Padre Island Thursday am during high water, almost no fish hitting and waves crashing over the rails (nice otherwise...)
