We're leaving Saturday for a day trip down to Sandbridge area. For a noob that's never been to that area, I have a question about access at little island or bbnwr. Once you get to the pier at little island, can you drive much farther or is it a park and walk over to the beach type of situation? Also, we'll be coming from Waynesboro via 64. Where would you guys recommend buying some fresh mullet down that way? Thanks for the help.

At Little island park pier your allowed to surf fish next to the pier unless the beach is empty then pretty much anywhere. You can get bait at a local sandbridge market in town a few miles away. But bbnwr you must pay a fee before entering and I think then you can park near the ranger station and walk however many blocks to the beach. They do close so you might want to fish early. Rangers do check daily so have your papers ready.

You can't drive on the beach. Bbnwr opens 30 min before sunrise it's $5 a car per day or $15 a year to park. Passes available at the ranger station after 8 am till 4 pm. You can fish the beach in north Sandbridge also not just little island park.
The sound or bay is fresh water.
