Ok, we're down at the Fort for our annual toad fishing trip. I bought shrimp a week ago and salted. Had one ray yesterday on the shrimp. Nothing else. This morning, I decided to pick up fresh shrimp at the trading post. Using high low rigs, we put fresh on top and salted on the bottom on some rods and vise versa on the others. Caught 3 toads, 6 whiting, a spot, a sharp nose, an 18" black drum and probably 15 - 20 rays, all on the fresh shrimp (regardless if it was top or bottom). Not a single bite on salted shrimp, fishbites blood worms, FB shrimp, FB sand fleas, or mullet fillets.

Is it just a case of what the fish want this weekend? Or, is the whole salted shrimp thing a myth?

Fishing was good this morning. Lines in at 7:45. Incoming tide. Caught 15 toads, 2 nice whitings, several small black drum and lots of rays again. All caught on fresh shrimp only. Left at 11:30. All in all a good trip. Be back in 3 weeks.
