Dale Shull, aka Rockfish1, was killed this week on his motorcycle while visiting friends and family out near Yellowstone National park. He was a Marine, a character, a fisherman and my friend, rest in peace buddy.

When I read the title of the thread it said, "Sad News". I was hoping you were going to say that you lost your fishing pole or a nice reel. My condolences to his family and close friends. RIP Dale, and thanks for your service.

I know this is a old post but can anyone tell me if Dale Shull aka Rockfish 1 was at the casting competion back a few years back down near Dunn/Cllinton, NC???

I wondered if any of you guys that posted on this thread was there as well. I remember meeting and talking w Tommy and some others and doing a little casting.

Seems I met Rockfish1 there. Curious to know.

Yes he was... I believe there may have even been a video. He usually had long curly, bushy hair, and a big mustache, I always told him he looked like the one guy in the '' Grateful Dead '' rock group. Then in the last few years he would get a short haircut and shave and start all over again, so I don't know for sure how he looked when you met him. He liked to kid around, he was a character, good guy.
