I have alot of older Penn bait caster reels the finish looks all faded out, in the past I oiled them however its not long they look bad, is there something that will keep them looking good? I enjoy fishing with them. Thanks...Ed:fishing:

If you can get all traces of the oil you've been putting on them over the years off, you may want to try something like U-40's Perma Gloss. It's a one part Urethane rod finish. Don't know of anyone who has used it on a reel, but don't see why it wouldn't work on the plastic parts. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

I thought permagloss as well, but I don't know how that would work out on a reel. Would probably be just fine though. Clean everything up with denatured alcohol, and use a foam sponge to apply the PG.
