Any thoughts on the upcoming weekends "largest moon in 50 years" and how it will affect the fishing on Georgia islands? Planning on camping on the coast this weekend, just wondering if it'll be worth trying to fish, reds, flounder and such... I appreciate all the input..

You going to the pier or surf? I might be heading down there again this weekend. Unfortunately there is massive beach erosion from the storm and not much beach area left.
Surf, I usually fish or pull a net on the south end of the beach. Just wasn't sure if anything was running or if it'd even be worth it with the tide and moon the way it's gonna be.

Don't not go fishing based on my opinion, but a combination of fast falling water temps, big tides, and two cold fronts passing though this week will make surf fishing very tuff. Let us know how you fair.

Tybee may still be decent, as well as both the SSI and Jekyll pier but sheepshead is probably your best target right now. Those pics where an hour before high tide on a 7.4' high and this weekend should hit 9'+. The S end of Tybee and Jekyll took the worse of the storm's winds and its bad. I haven't decided if I'm calling this season done or not yet but that's based more on stubbornness on catching the last species on my list than any sciences or experience.

Like you said though I'd rather spend the day in the surf not catching than spend it working.

Sunrise on Monday morning is supposed to be one of the best times of the year, according to Tides4Fishing.com. High tide, sunrise, and moonset all line up at that point. I can't say I've had a lot of success with solunar fishing predictions, but if you have a chance, it's certainly a good excuse to go fishing.
