I am considering purchasing a Delaware Surf Fishing Permit this year just because it is too hard for my Dad to walk on to the beach any more. I have a lot of experience driving on the beach in New Jersey. Here is my question. I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires. Are my Cooper tire tread too aggressive for driving on the beach even if I air down. I always ran all season tires in Jersey because they did better. I mostly would be fishing Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore State Park, and possible Beach Plum Island. Thanks in advance for your responses.

You should be OK. Just be sure to air down. Also, look for increased enforcement this year of all the regs for the drive on beaches in DE. They have re-defined "actively fishing" and will be doing more checks to insure that everyone has all their gear, shovels, tow straps and the like.

Lesson Learned - Just because there is an air pump at the ramp site, don't always assume it works. I tested one before I went on the beach and when I returned, it did not work. Had to drive 5 miles at slow speed to make sure I did not pop the bead off the rim...
