Anyone doing any casting? I had one rod out about 3 weeks ago but the tennis ball kept getting stuck in the snow or behind corn stalks, plus 2 sweatshirts, coveralls and gloves didn't make things any better but it still felt good having a surf rod in my hands. Spring is coming but the rental prices for the beach are out of control, frustrating!

Too damn cold, here in the Nor'East. Good Spring weather can't come too soon.

I'm working on a weighted wooden plug that'll float, for casting into the pond.

A fat "plug" for water casting practice. 7" x 1.5", 4.5ozs and it floats. Turned from pine, drilled and filled with lead, hook-eye at one end, and slathered in epoxy. Just need to spray it white for visibility.
