Looking to head to the cabins on Portsmouth at the end of April. Will spring run have started? I realize a good amount is determined by the temperature changes.

What’s the sound side like?

Used to fishing Rodanthe/Avon and S. Nags Head.

Thanks, I know it’s a little early, but it’s 20 degrees outside and nothing else better to do.

Drum will be there and so will some large critters you may not want to swim with.

Bring a lot of ice and a cast net and real bloodworms. $300 worth of Bloodworms should be about right, depending on the current exchange rate $$$ to Worms....

Bring a lot of food and drink and gasoline in case the fishing is so good you want to stay longer or if a storm comes and you cannot leave;)

Bring two generators. Do not ask me why. Enough fuel for the period you are there. You might get by without 20 cans of bug spray that time of year. Learn to watch the weather. All the stuff as previously mentioned that you just run out and get..........better not forget any of it. Lots of beer........PS....one of those portable showers you see are nice after a few days.Sounds daunting...........with that said could possibly be the best fishing you have ever experienced and my wife LOVES looking for shells there.

A three hour cruise...just a three hour cruise....Gilligan...The Skipper too...Maryanne and the Movie Star....

Take a shovel and dig them fleas up if they are not up on the surface.

Take a shovel and dig out your neighbors if their 4x4 breaks...

You are going to one of the most un-occupied places on the East Coast outside of Canada.

Bring 100% Deet and Quinine in case someone on your team gets Malaria.

I would bring a Gun of some sort. Not for survival but in case the Mosquitos get so bad that you need to commit Hari-Kiri.

I was there about 2 weeks after that. Little black flies were mean on the beach but just back near the dunes mainly.
That cabin trip looks interesting, I'd like to try that myself someday, but I hate the biting bugs.

Good luck ! Be sure to post/document that adventure for us .... if you go.
Thanks

Are you going over with Davis Shore Ferry? If so, say hello to Mitch for me... tell him the "cigar smoking gun guy from Ohio says hello"!

My last CALO trip was last few days of March first few days of April of this year. You can see my highlights here: CALO this SAT through the following Sunday

Feel free to pick my brain... some of the kids and my mom stayed in a cabin, rest of us were out on the beach in tents. I stayed in a cabin last night on the island, for the first time ever. All the years I've been out there, had never stayed in a cabin LOL!
