I'm heading down to Portsmouth the 2nd week of May with a group of guys. I've never been in the spring. Will drum still be around, or will it just be pomps, blues, and whiting? Thanks in advance for any and all info.

I would think there would be drum at both ends of the island during that time,n end particularly.. I have never been to Portsmouth Island,on the beach,but have been by boat.. Sightcasted both cobias and drum off n end during that time of year.. Have caught drum in shoals off n side,with bait,
in a boat as well..

I thought portsmouth island is uninhabited? how do you get there ad where do u stay?

Ferry over from Atlantic NC. There are cabins rented out by the National Park Service, or you can camp for free.
