I'm planning to make the walk to the South jetty Friday. I've never been to it. What should I expect and what stuff should I bring? I've got 1 Penn on a 7 foot rod, a Daiwa on a 7 foot ugly stick and a no name on a 10 footer. Any and all advice is appreciated. I usually surf or Pier fish on Sunday mornings at MBSP so just curious on going to the jetty. Thanks

Long walk, just take the two 7ft rods unless you have a cart.
Take gotcha plugs and other metal lures for blues and spanish, fresh shrimp for bottom fish and if you can some mud minnows for reds, trout and flounder.

You can fish lots of artificial lures for trout, flounder and reds on the inlet side of the jetty.

Wear some good gripping shoes for those rocks, and a net with a long handle would work wonders for tou

Everything RJ said....plus..... I hear that Sheepsheads are on the jetties now. If you're interested in them, take some fiddlers (Perry's or Outpost) and that 10' rod and work the rocks out at the end of the jetty. Take food & drink....it's a 1.3 mile walk back to the parking area from the base of the jetty. What time are you going? I might be headed out there myself tomorrow.
