I don't go there until after Labor Day. The parking lot is full from the beach goers. Paying parking fee and pier fee sucks but c'est la vie.

The best time to go is way early morning like 530am or even earlier. Then you can beat the crazy beach goers and just let the old man who runs the parking lot know your fishing and you get in for a cheap price and you can pretty much hang out all day at the pier.
