It's been about 8 years since I have king fished from a pier but I'm moving to Oki in June and I'm trying to get my set up ready I bought a new Penn squall 60 because I need a left handed reel due to a disability for my fighting setup n was wondering the best line to use mono or braid. The only reason I'm thinking about braid is because I like to surf shark fish n want to go with a line I could use for both any suggestions appreciated thank in advance

Feel like kingfishing is a little different than sharking as far as braid.. Feel you tend to pull hooks on a king with braid more so than mono..

I run braid backing and a mono topshot, braid gives you capacity and longevity, mono gives you some stretch and abrasion resistance.

Check your Local Piers, some do Not allow braid..

Thanks for the replies I will have to look into it more and probably just decide once I am all moved in to Oki
